Do not judge and you will not be judged.
Forgive and you will be forgiven.
Give and it will be given to you.
Luke 6: 37-38

Drought Crisis in sub-saharan Africa

At the end of 2015/early 2016, Sub-Saharan Africa experienced very poor rainfall resulting in a widespread drought and food crisis. Across Africa this has resulted in a significant increase in price for staple foods. Hands at Work is currently assessing the severity of the need in the communities we serve, to ensure that the most vulnerable children continue to receive consistent access to basic services.
Will you join us in our prayers for a speedy and wonderful response to help these communities. This is a time where we can give and help because we have and they haven't.

Remember this passage in Luke 21:1-4
Jesus looked up and saw the rich putting their gifts into the offering box, and he saw a poor widow put in two small copper coins. And he said, “Truly, I tell you, this poor widow has put in more than all of them. For they all contributed out of their abundance, but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
Please share too.

My God, You never failed me...

Copyright This beautiful Republic

I'm losing contact forgetting what is real
Able to touch but not able to feel
It's easier to shut out everyone
I'm chasing after my newest distraction to escape it all

My God, oh, my God, what have I become?
The self-addicted one
My God, oh, my God, You never failed me
You're what I need

So often I'm the sleeping prayer
More often I'm the weeping betrayer
Sometimes I play the martyr, become the traitor
The humbled sinner has never been a role I knew to play

My God, oh, my God, what have I become?
The self-addicted one
My God, oh, my God, You never failed me
You're what I need

Treason, a pound of flesh is the debt
Leaving a crippled man
I'll give You all I have left
A straining outstretched hand
Is it enough? Is it enough?
Reach down, take me back, take me back

My God, oh, my God, what have I become?
The self-addicted one
My God, oh, my God, You never failed me
You're what I need
My God, oh, my God
(My God, oh, my God)
My God, oh, my God
I'll give You all I have left
A straining outstretched hand

Chibok: the Fathers' stories

In April 2014, over 200 girls were abducted by Boko Haram islamists from the Chibok High School for girls in Nigeria
The girls are still missing, their parents are grieving.
In this short film, three of the fathers of the missing Chibok girls talk about the pain of losing their daughters, and say thank you for the support they’ve received from around the world.

Thousands of Christians have been killed or displaced by Islamic extremists in Nigeria.

Militant Islamist group Boko Haram continue to terrorise the north and have declared their own caliphate (Islamic State), although President Buhari's campaign against them has had some success.

However, Islamic Hausa-Fulani herdsmen, who frequently carry out cruel attacks on Christian villages in Nigeria's middle belt, are being given grazing land by the government taken from indigenous Christian communities, depriving Christians of their fields and livelihoods.

Comfort food: hazelnuts brownies, why not?

Best-ever brownies

Today I thought that I would bake some brownies and this recipe inspired me. I grilled some hazelnuts (a handful) beforehand and lined them at the bottom of my round tin (I'm using a round tin as my square one is in a cupboard at Imo's house in London..and I haven't bothered to buy another one,,will do though!)
So I'm on the last minute and I will make my own way to our friends home, Mike and Eva who are hosting a venue 'Say one for me' for our House church and the Anglican church meeting together.
Have a blessed day.

True love?

True Love?
“And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment (Philippians 1:9).”
George Pinwell, A Beckets troth the Saracen Maiden entering London at Sundow
Charles Dickens in his “Child’s History of England” tells of the romance of Thomas a Becket’s parents. Gilbert Becket was a London merchant in the 11th century. While on a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, he was taken prisoner by a Saracen lord who had a beautiful daughter. The girl fell in love with Gilbert and expressed a desire to become a Christian, escape with him and become his wife. Gilbert seemed to return her love until he found a chance to escape with Richard, his servant. Once he was back in England, Gilbert’s love for the beautiful Saracen maid began to grow dim until he all but forgot about her. But while his love was decreasing, her love was increasing. She left her father’s home in disguise to follow Gilbert and made her way to the coast. Gilbert had taught her two English words, “London” and “Gilbert.” She went from ship to ship saying over and over the name of the city where she so desperately wanted to go. She found a ship going to London and with some of her jewels paid for her passage. She soon arrived in London.
As Gilbert was sitting in his office one day his servant, Richard, came running in saying, “The Saracen lady! As I live, she is going up and down calling out, ‘Gilbert! Gilbert!’” Gilbert went out and found her in the crowds. When she saw him she fainted in his arms. Soon afterwards they were married.

Distance can sometimes destroy a love affair. But true love will overcome whatever the obstacle.

Do we have a true love for our Lord?

A love that is increasing day by day?

We should pray as Paul prayed for the Philippians that our “love may abound yet more and more....”

Love is patient!

1 Corinthians 13

The Way of Love

13 If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. 2 And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.3 If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but have not love, I gain nothing.
